When I arrived at work today the wind was calm and the temperature was a balmy 27 degrees – I even wore sandals to take out the garbage this morning. It warmed up steadily overnight, which is normal for a Minnesota winter, but strange most everywhere else.

Now, as I’m leaving work this evening, we have 35 mile per hour gusts of wind and the temperature just broke the zero barrier and is now 1 below — and falling. Wind chills will be approaching 40 below zero tonight. That’s just plain crazy since we haven’t been below 20 below in almost 5 years. “Back in the day” we used to see 2 or 3 days a year that cold.

Global warming kicks ass.
