I would like anyone who has a creative ounce in your body to submit what you think a cool logo/corporate identity for the Caption Machine would be.

What am I looking for?

Simple yet memorable logo (see Apple, Disney mouse ears, The Fray).

No gradients or fancy 3d crap.

Muted simple colors so it matches the site (single color or black is good).

Doesn’t have to have “Caption Machine” on it.

Submit a vector based (or whatever) file to me ( logo at captionmachine dot com ) via email.

Apparently it’s hip with the kids down-under because it is mentioned as a fresh site in this month’s NetGuide Magazine (it’s on their website too). It was also in the tech section of the Huston Chronicle. Read on to see the article.

WRITE OPPORTUNITY –
There lurks within many the desire to be a writer. Perhaps a children’s book, murder mystery or steamy romance novel has been aching to get out and into the world — but you just haven’t made time for it. Here’s a suggestion for doing some writing and getting it published, and it doesn’t take that much time. The Caption Machine, at www.captionmachine.com, is a site with lots of pictures that are undeniably great photo opportunities, intended or otherwise. You choose the picture or pictures for which you want to create a caption, and just write away. Better yet, if you have a picture that you think deserves a caption from around the world, you can upload it to the site. There is a link to a page that tells you all about how to go about getting it from your place to their place in space. Some of the captions are on the edge but the majority of them are creative and show just how talented folks really can be.

If the traffic isn’t curtailed dramatically, I’ll be flirting with my 20 GB bandwidth limit as well as my 15,000,000 sql query limit. Not good.

Update: Actually, it appears to be on the my yahoo pages. Really, really not good.

(free registration required) The last few paragraphs have a link to the site and mention a little about it. It’s a small article, but fun none the less. The Caption Machine has also been in the Top 100 links by Blogrollers for the past few weeks, hovering in the low 30′s.

Did you ever see a photograph that just begged for an amusing caption? At captionmachine.com , such photos get what they deserve. Here any self-professed wit can add captions to more than 50 snapshots รณ all of which offer ripe opportunities for foolishness. The captions for each photo are listed from best to worst, based on voting by site visitors.

Most of the photos are also uploaded by visitors, said Tim Conner of St. Cloud, Minn., creator of the site. Among the most popular, based on the number of captions submitted, are photos of animals, vehicular accidents, and babies with beer bottles.
